Peace can't be elusive

NOW THAT our 'honourable' MP's have bagged over Sh4 million in salary and allowances, they should seriously consider helping the internally displaced persons who are now being 'displaced' from the ASK Show Grounds countrywide by the government.

They can donate some amount of cash. Why not? The internally displaced find themselves in a hard rock over a flawed election system that is being hotly disputed. Is it true that some MP's rigged? Perhaps we just need a new general elections. How many will bother voting anyway?

Pessimists should now bury their heads in the sand. Annan will be in town in a matter of hours. 'Hana flu sasa'. Our friends from 'Costo' should give this dude a chance, au? However, 'Respectable' political analysts are quick to denounce his ability over the mediation talks.

In as much as Desmond Tutu and John Kufuor failed let alone having a head start, Annan should be given a chance at all costs, that includes any sanctions by the international community against the government and its representatives. The list should also include all protagonist against peace.

Our neighbours, the DRC govt will be signing a 'historic' peace deal on Tuesday with the rebels to end the biggest war after the WWII. The immediate ceasefire will include the immediate withdrawal of all rebel forces from North Kivu and resettlement of all displaced villagers.

The Congo conflict has cost 4.5 million lives in decades, a numerical sum surpassing any conflict in the post WWII. Should we get far.

Kofi Annan has the support of the international community, that has been made clear to all. Why then say he has no clout or lacks any biting mechanism? Try him.

We need not be an example of failed state, a failed democracy, a failed economy.

As a gesture of goodwill over the peaceful negotiations, ODM should now call-off present and future demonstrations while the government should now get resettlements for the displaced.

Annan holds the key to peaceful solutions and resolutions in this conflict.

Britain should speak out. Whom do they recognise?

A friend in need is a bloody bother

I NEVER thought that Kenyans would be engaged in political card shuffling as has been publicly acknowledged an witnessed in the past three weeks.

Our 'meticulous' politicians have shed 'snake hood' to reveal their deeply engraved personalities within their dark melanin skins. As far as am concerned, hell is so cold for these characters.

President Mwai Kibaki, lets analyse this chap. Lets imagine that he won the elections, this might be difficult for most but just imagine he won, bear with the theory. Your positivism will be of great assistance to understanding our president.

Signs about Kibaki's political card shuffling must have been discovered by former President Moi in the 80's when he sacked this him as the VP. I don't know what ministry he took over then but I vividly remember he quit in 1991 as the Health Minister during the eve of Christmas to form the Democratic Party - DP.

At the peak of multi-party democracy in Kenya in 1992, Kenya had the best chance of electing Stanley Matiba as its third president. Well, Emilio knows better.

Forget about 1997, opposition had no chance of ousting Moi. We had 'masaa ya Ngilu', Wamalwa, Raila, Kibaki etc. It was a free for all challenge, a come one come all fiesta.

God blessed Kenya with a united front in 2002. People voted Uhuru Kenyatta out of scene hoping to permanently write a political obituary about him. Kibaki was elected the third president. We all saw it, the ceremony, to say the least, fabulous. Attendance, world shocker!

What about 2007? The swearing in ceremony fell short of winning the Guiness Record Award or perhaps the Grammys. Kibaki was sworn in with a judiciary that the government so wishes that ODM should file a petition to. How comic. Lets give Kibaki a break. He's our president, 'mpende msipende' yeye ni kinara wa Kenya. Kama hujui, this is a very powerful position.

Here comes Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, the 'born again' character. Kalonzo and Kivuitu are buddies. However, this two chaps usurped power to themselves using their 'charm' and playing 'diplomatic defence' and experience.

What is so disturbing is that the community(ies) Kivuitu and Kalonzo represent are exquisitely satisfied. Where is Kenya heading?

Kalonzo Musyoka, what happened to this Mr. Handsome (debatable) chap. He says he accepted the VP's post as a symbol of unity. In Parliament, he disputed why ODM members showed their vote to Khaniri. It prompted Anyang' Nyong' to ask him to categorically state when he supports a flawed process. Kalonzo, I am eagerly waiting for a response on this. Kalonzo Musyoka needs to be reminded that in 2012, Kenyans will be more wiser. Lets watch how his presidential fantasy shapes up for 2012.

Peace Team

Of course, the president has appointed a government's peace team ahead of Kofi Annan's visit next Tuesday. This team led by Kalonzo Musyoka is embraced by protagonists. The presence of Martha Karua and Mutula Kilonzo nullifies any goodwill, this is besides the process being led by Kalonzo Musyoka.

Perhaps I am a pessimist.

ODM 'Peace' Rallies

I suppose ODM has proved its point. Most towns have in fact stopped conducting business during normal hours. In Nairobi, few shops in the CBD are operational.

I have a sensible feeling that the ODM Pentagon leaders seem to enjoy every bit of the fracas. They take refuge in secure five star hotels where meals are served to their satisfaction while taking off in Range Rover Sports vehicles when being pursued by the police. Give Kenyans a break. Take to your heels from Uhuru Park to the Hilton Hotel. Now, that's what I call a real riot. Najib Balala, be serious. Some of us have been accredited five-star medal demonstrators.

Kenyans, make these leaders participate actively.

The politicians should stop being a bother.

Parliament: Cat and Mouse showbiz

Finally, ODM has sought control of Parliament through its Emuhaya MP, Kenneth Marende. This guy from the Maseno slope whom ODM will use to challenge Emilio's re-'erection' must be versatile to make Karua lose sense.

Budalangi seems to be nurturing artists of all nature. For instance, its MP Ababu Namwamba. What's the difference between him and his predecessor Raphael Wanjala? Every DNA test reveals a replica of sought. Perhaps, a flu from Bumula's Bifwoli caught up with this A'babu' in the parliamentary chambers. Remember Bifwoli's mourning song on former Vice-President Moody Awori? Just think how Ababu will sound. Running all over parliament's building mourning an 'injustice' by the Vice-President, Kalonzo Musyoka. Anyway, Ababu's hair cut befits such occasions.

Ababu is a scholar bewildered and marvelled to be at the core of organic political and opposition power. The team work exhibited in the swearing in of the tenth parliament is akin to winning a presidential election. This team almost brought the house to a standstill.

The lonely Bumula MP, Bifwoli Wakoli had everything going his way in the 9th Parliament. He only has Wetangula to wipe his tearful eyes. Wetangula, the newly appointed Foreign Minister and a member of the just constituted Peace team has will be receiving a container at the ports full of hankerchief when need be.

I understand the guy who constructs a 6km road stretch in 10 years has made it to the 10th parliament. Rumours has it that he religiously donated Kshs. 100 million for Kibaki Tena. Good for him, Uncle Michuki is now the new Roads Minister. Business can never be any better.

As much as we have learned friends in the 10th Parliament, we also voted in MP's only capable of conversing in vernacular. When an MP pronounces 'Chair' as 'sheas' , we get concerned. However, names are withheld for the purpose of allowing a successful dialogue in our current situation.

The mystery of this parliament is whether it'll ever last five years. With Marende being at the epitom of parliament, not even the president will overrule his judgment. He was recently quoted in BBC Online agreeing to the fact that ODM had every constitutional right to challenge Kibaki's re-election.

Kenyans be cautious. ODM will put every business to a halt in parliament.

KENYA: Democracy or Deceit

My fellow Kenyans,

You have seen it all. General elections in Africa do reveal underlying persistent issues that cosmetic peace within a state forfeit.

Akon postponed his tour to Kenya, we got disappointed by this 'American travel advisory chauvinism'. We thought Akon was portraying the American arrogance. But he seems to have known better, he 's a West African, so I heard. How could he miss this one? The prophecy was simply accurate.

Kenya's election turmoil was reminiscent of ethnicity in African. It is politics by default, where dialogue has no basis, peace is achieved through armed struggle, if ever successful. Inequality and land issues have never been addressed in post colonial Kenya. How than can all these recurrent conflicts end if every elected government overlooks the situation? How will the conflicting communities re-live with sane mind and love? This has been a preposterous breach of peace in the country. We have failed to be our brother's keeper, for sisters....

Irrespective of which government makes ascends to power, those two issues are true affectionate monsters that will persistently cripple Kenya's tranquility, not the economic incapabilities of Kisumu that is now resembling the WWII bombed Berlin City nor KRA's inability to collect revenue in towns. Boda boda riders should now be prepared to pay taxes. They are next. The government has to meet the deficits at all cost. It has to fund its pet 'free' secondary education. Perhaps Safaricom IPO will be overvalued? Michael Joseph's is eager to see the IPO take off in mid-February. With that Parliament being governed by ODM? Business will be paranormal.

What about the cold blood murder in Kisumu? It has been viewed in the world media. The Western governments revel on such scenes. Right now, the EU Parliament is so determined to freeze aid to Kenya. My guess, lets see how we'll avoid the debacle.

Did it occur to you that perhaps the biggest losers in the ongoing conflicts are the middle-class. This class that chats calmly in pubs and worship in decent churches will be hit so hard. A youth living in Kibera slums or Mathare has his/her life to lose, not wealth. The ongoing conflict will render many irrelevant in organisations, hence retrenchments.

This middle-class affectionately brags of cars bought using bank loans and most are occupying houses on mortgage schemes with no invested offshore account nor properties. Times will be so hard.

I understand patients at Moi Referral Hospital, Eldoret had an uneasy calm when 'Kenyan' police fired teargas in the emergency rooms. However, why is it that these 'Kenyan Police' cannot communicate in Swahili within our borders?

I commend William Ole Ntimama for leading by example. This politician is a man of wits. Ntimama had his daughter lead a peaceful demonstration in Narok town. She however had a teargas fired at her and got hospitalised. Other ODM leaders should comply to this standard set by this honourable statesman.
